Great Place to Work Certified

Newbury-based Energy Consultant, Fidelity Energy, is proud to have earned the Great Place to Work® Certification™.

When they were established in 2014 as an energy procurement consultant you could count the staff members on one hand. Fast forward 9 years and they have evolved into a strong team of 35 employees and provide a variety of energy products and sustainable solutions to assist businesses alongside energy procurement.

The prestigious Great Place to Work® award is based on confidential feedback from employees who work at Fidelity Energy, with over 88% considering it a Great Place to Work®. Find out more on their company profile here.

“We are thrilled to be recognised as a Great Place to Work® as it is a testament to our continual efforts to ensure we create a company culture where people want to work,” said Fidelity Energy Managing Director, John Haw. “For us company culture is our top priority and at Fidelity Energy, we strive to create a great place to work for all our employees. We know that our people are our best asset and without them, the business wouldn’t be where it is today. We try to encourage a family-like culture, where we respect each other, are flexible to individuals’ needs and support people where and when they need it the most. Our philosophy of no politics is one of our key values and is what has helped us to build a culture and workplace where everyone can be themselves and not have to worry about working in a toxic environment.”

Highlights of the Great Place to Work® employee surveys revealed:
• 97% of employees are made to feel welcome when they join (which was the maximum score as one employee missed the survey deadline).
• 92% of employees class Fidelity Energy as an inclusive employer who avoids discrimination.
• 91% of employees enjoy working with their colleagues and believe they can be themselves and count on the support of their colleagues.
• 89% of employees believe Fidelity Energy has a great sense of camaraderie.
• 88% of employees believe the work environment is friendly and welcoming and they can have fun at work.

“We are always trying to do better and that is why we teamed with the independent third party, Great Place to Work®, to conduct the confidential survey to see what was working and in what areas we could improve to do better as a company in order to help our employees get the best out of themselves,” said John Haw.

“Most of the areas that were highlighted within the survey are ones already known to us and that we are working on. The main area of improvement is that we have outgrown our office in Newbury town Centre, which is a far cry from when we first moved back in 2016 and immediately thought it would be too big. This is something we have been aware of for a while and have been sourcing options for expansion to accommodate the growing team.

The positive feedback was reassuring as the employees felt personally supported and were enthusiastic about the company’s growth and the challenges and opportunities it brings. The feedback that so many saw the family-like culture as a positive was encouraging, especially as we have worked hard to create an environment people want to come to work in and are proud of. The correlation of that with the companies increasing performance year-on-year is not a coincidence, the Fidelity Energy people are what make this company a success, and the profits are just a by-product of it.

Even before the Great Place to Work® recognition, I was extremely proud of our employee’s commitment to our energy partners and customers. The energy industry has been through a tumultuous couple of years and by working together as a team we have managed to overcome these obstacles and continue to get stronger. I would like to thank everyone at Fidelity Energy for making the company a place we can all be proud to work and congratulate you all on this award.”
