Step Academy Trust is a growing multi-academy trust, and each site has its own energy profile, meters and contract history. As the estate grew, so did the work of managing gas, electricity and water.
The trust wanted confidence in supplier billing, clearer reporting and a more strategic approach to buying. With contracts coming up for renewal, it was the right time to review the whole portfolio.
We used the trust's combined buying power to procure volume-based contracts, compliantly for the public sector, and restructured and co-termed them so renewal dates line up across all sites.
We consolidated the water contracts, managed a full smart meter roll-out and set up Etainabl across the portfolio for real-time data and automated reporting.
The latest procurement round saves £55,625 a year across gas and electricity, with more value found in water.
Reporting is now centralised and more transparent, which cuts admin and supports carbon tracking, compliance and long-term estate planning.
Fidelity Energy have completely organised STEP's energy portfolio, aligned the contract end dates, as well as managed all moves, adds or changes for the Trust.
